Why 3D Printing?
Why do we use 3D printing you ask?
At Yozora, every product begins with a commitment to thoughtful design and continuous innovation. While many manufacturers rely on injection molding for large-scale production, we have chosen to build our products using 3D printing.
In many cases, 3D printing is actually more expensive on a per-unit basis than injection molding. However, traditional manufacturing requires significant upfront investments in tooling, molds, and production infrastructure before a single product can be made. Those costs can limit innovation and make it difficult to develop new designs without substantial financial risk.
By utilizing 3D printing, we can invest our resources into improving products rather than purchasing expensive molds. This allows us to develop new shade designs, refine existing products, and respond to customer feedback far more quickly than would be possible with conventional manufacturing methods.
The flexibility of 3D printing also enables us to offer a wider range of products. Instead of being restricted to a handful of designs that justify the cost of dedicated tooling, we can create solutions for a diverse range of lighting fixtures and continue expanding our catalog as new needs arise.
Most importantly, this approach encourages innovation. Every product can be tested, improved, and optimized without the constraints of traditional manufacturing. As our designs evolve, we can implement improvements immediately rather than waiting for costly new tooling or production runs.
For Yozora, 3D printing is more than a manufacturing process—it's what allows us to remain adaptable, creative, and focused on our mission. It gives us the freedom to develop better solutions for reducing light pollution while making dark-sky-friendly lighting accessible to more people.
